Look-alikes
Some characters differ by a single stroke — a line a little longer, a dot in another place, two strokes that touch or don't. Here they are side by side, each with the one detail that tells it apart. Add any of them to your review deck to drill them, and where a building block or sound family explains a character, tap it to watch it being built. The clues describe the simplified shapes; with Traditional chosen, a character written differently also shows its traditional form.
Telling look-alikes apart
- Look at the one detail each card points to before anything else.
- Say the meanings out loud together — 土 earth, 士 scholar — so the pair sticks as a pair.
- Add both of a pair to your review deck, so you meet them again side by side.
